I CURATED AN ONLINE EXHIBITION FOR "THE DAILY PHOTOGRAPH"
I was delighted to be invited to curate a 30-day section of photographs
for The Daily. For this month long period, I present one photographer
each day that is a symbol of inspiration to me - many times they are not
only an inspiration as an artist, but as a multi-faceted talent in the
photo industry. Many of the artists being presented here are teachers,
curators, writers, assistants to other fantastic photographers, and on
and on. I think it is safe to say that most artists would love to be
devoted to their art full-time, but many of us gain much satisfaction
out of being involved in our industry in a myriad of ways. Here I get
the chance to present a broad array of artists that have inspired me on a
multitude of levels. Thank you Daily for the opportunity!

2016 WORKSHOPS
HANDCOATED ALBUMEN WORKSHOP, TWO-DAY INTENSIVE
Phoenix, Arizona
Workshop: February 20-21, 2016
Lecture: February 19, 2016
In
this hands-on workshop, the history and process of albumen will be
discussed. Students will learn how to make albumen and coat paper with
albumen, then sensitize paper with silver nitrate, print and tone with
selenium. Each student will be able to leave with their own batch of
albumen, and a few of their own albumen prints. Troubleshooting will be
discussed in regards to paper, negatives, and chemical issues and
students will walk away with a print, and an understanding of achieving
the best albumen results in order to practice this medium independently.
Students will be printing with digital negatives tailored specifically
to the albumen process, but in order to maximize workshop printing time,
these negatives will be prepared ahead of time. More details will be
provided closer to the workshop date. This workshop is intended for
students of all levels, as it is introductory to albumen, but students
with understanding of alternative processes may achieve a greater
understanding of technicalities.
